A Ukrainian woman based in Roscommon is praising the local community for their work in welcoming refugees from the ongoing war.
Veronica is currently staying at the Donamon Visitors Centre in Roscommon with a number of other Ukrainian refugees.
Just over eleven hundred Ukrainian refugees are currently living in the Shannonside region as of the start of June
Speaking to Shannonside FM at a special cultural exchange event, Veronica says the Irish people have welcomed them with open arms.
She says it's made the stress of the last 4 months easier to deal with:
"I just want to say thank you so much to all, to everyone and all the Irish people for helping us and for your support, we are really feeling this so much and we are happy to be here and you have a wonderful country."
