Today marks the 1st anniversary of the arrest and imprisonment in Iraq of Roscommon resident Robert Pether.
The engineer who moved with his wife and children to Elphin in recent years was working for an international company on a major project in Baghdad when a dispute arose over costs.
Robert and another colleague were arrested on the 7th of April last year after returning to Iraq to help out with queries on the project.
They have been held in jail since that time and were sentenced to five years in prison after a court hearing in August.
A UN body has declared Robert and his colleague's detention as illegal under international law and has called for their immediate release.
