The Tánaiste has said the government is likely to miss its target of having 82 per cent of adults given a first vaccination by the end of June.
It comes as there will be a very significant under-delivery of the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine in June.
Issues with a plant in the US getting EMA approval have led to a shortfall in delivery of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine for June which Health Minister Stephen Donnelly says will be significant:
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has admitted this will lead to a revision of the government's targets for vaccination.
It's expected revised targets will be published tomorrow as part of government announcements on the easing of restrictions over the summer.
The Tánaiste has said the delay should be no more than a few weeks. The HSE also now estimates 50 per cent of the adult population will have been given a first dose of vaccine by the end of this week.
It comes as the COVID vaccine programme has opened for all over-18s in Northern Ireland today.
