Gardai are investigating after a body of a man in his 20s was discovered in Carrick-on-Shannon this morning.
It's believed the body was discovered shortly after 8am when entry was forced to gain access to the Costello Memorial Chapel in the town. Emergency services, including Gardai, ambulances and members of the local fire brigade attended the scene and forced open the doors.
The scene has been sealed off and an investigation is underway. It’s not yet clear how long the body may have been there and inquiries are underway to determine the identity of the deceased.
The body has since been removed from the scene and taken to Sligo University Hospital. A post-mortem will take place at a later date.
