The use of a Longford B&B for the housing of asylum seekers must be a temporary measure according to a local Councillor.
Seamus Butler was reacting to the news this week that the Westhouse B&B on the N5 outside of Longford Town is to host a number of International Protection applicants.
According to the Department of Integration, the B&B will host 24 people consisting of families seeking International Protection.
Councillor Butler has argued that with two Direct Provision centres in the county already, Longford has taken it's fair share.
He's been highlighting concerns over the location of the site, including worries over the lack of pedestrian infrastructure for residents to safetly get to and from the centre to Longford Town.
