Vaccinations are due to begin at the Longford Mass Vaccine Centre in Newtownforbes tomorrow morning following months of preparation.
The centre is one of the last to open nationwide following a series of delays due to issues with site suitability at a previously selected location for the centre at Slashers GAA Club outside of Longford Town.
The centre will begin vaccinations by appointment only at the Clonguish GAA facility from 9.30 tomorrow morning.
It's planned to see up to 800 vaccine doses administered per week at the centre to start, with capacity to increase in line with demand and vaccine supply.
It's expected that following a gradual start tomorrow and Friday in order to uncover any issues at the facility, it's expected that the centre will reach initial vaccine targets by early next week.
Centre management is urging those attending to bring photo ID, their PPS number, registration details and if possible loose fitting clothing to allow the upper arm jab.
Centre Manager Carmel Breaden says the HSE, county council and local GAA have worked hard to ensure the centre is ready to go:
