The Vintners Federation of Ireland says there is no great appetite for extending opening hours among publicans.
It comes as Justice Action Plan 2021 sets out goals to overhaul licensing laws for bars and nightclubs.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee had that message for musicians, DJS, and promotors as she promised to modernise Irish laws to develop the nighttime economy.
Under the plans, licencing laws for pubs, bars and nightclubs will be modernised and reformed.
This could see their opening hours extended further into the morning, with Minister McEntee saying it should provide for more options for locals and tourists.
Give Us The Night spokesperson, Sunil Sharpe, feels current licensing laws are shutting clubs far too early.
However, pub owners are not keen on keeping their doors open longer.
VFI CEO Padraig Cribben feels there are far more serious concerns facing the industry right now.
A full review of the regulations and policies affecting pubs and clubs will be carried out over the next 2 years, which will also intend to modernise how they apply for licenses.
