On the 11th of March 1921, 6 members of the Leitrim IRA flying column were killed in an ambush by RIC forces.

It's 100 years ago today that county Leitrim suffered the greatest loss of life in the War of Independence.

Six IRA officers of the Leitrim Brigade were killed, when the local Flying Column was ambushed by members of the RIC Auxiliary Division at Selton Hill.

A number of events are planned to mark the occasion, including a mass this evening from St Mary's Church, Aughnasheelan, which will be live-streamed.
