The Battle of Ballinamuck Commemoration Committee is appealing for over 100 volunteers to act as pikemen for a major re-enactment in September.
This year sees the 225th anniversary of the battle and the re-enactment will be a key feature of the commemoration weekend between the 7th and 10th of September.
The Battle of Ballinamuck was the last engagement of the 1798 rebellion of the United Irishmen in Ireland and marked the defeat of the main force of the French incursion under General Humbert.
Mark Cunningham who's Chairman of the Commemoration Committee says they want to hear from volunteers over the new few weeks who'd like to take part in the event.
"So far we have 60 re-enacters coming from all over Ireland and also France, who will be the British and French re-enacters and now we're looking for approximately 120-150 pikemen. We want a ratio of about 2 to 1 so we're claling on anyone who is interested to certainly contact us and we'll supply the pikes! All we need now is the pikemen"
