Many vulnerable people in Leitrim are turning down state grants to upgrade their homes because the funding is inadequate, according to a Fine Gael councillor.
The state funding allows disabled and older people to get new bathrooms, bedroom extensions and other works.
The maximum amount under the Housing Adaptation Grant is €30,000, which may cover up to 95 per cent of the works.

But Councillor Enda McGloin, from Drumshanbo, says the rates aren't enough.
