The animal was sold for the record price at Monday's fair in the town.

History was made in Carrick-on-Shannon earlier this week after a record price was secured for an animal at the annual winter fair.

The two-day commercial pedigree sale saw a record price paid for for a Limousin heifer - crossed with a Belgian Blue.

Sean Ramsbottom from Timahoe in County Laois and his son Jack secured a price of €18,000 for the animal- a record for the Carrick-on-Shannon event.
