Katie Taylor is among the dozens of people who have been congratulating Ireland's latest world boxing champion Lisa O'Rourke following her success this week.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says the success of Amy Broadhurst and Lisa O'Rourke is a 'massive achievement' for Ireland.
They both claimed gold medals at the women's World Boxing Championships in Istanbul yesterday.
Broadhurst took the honours in the light welterweight division, while O'Rourke prevailed in the light middleweight decider.
Talks are expected to begin today on how her home town of Castlerea will celebrate the huge achievement of the 20-year-old in winning a World Boxing Gold Medal in Turkey yesterday.
People living in and around the west Roscommon town gathered at the Hub Enterpise centre beside Castlerea boxing club to watch the fight yesterday afternoon, and local councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice says there was a great atmosphere for the historic occasion.
Lisa is expected back soon and the Fianna Fail councillor says they hope to give the Worid Champion a good welcome home
"We had it live on the big screen in the Hub, we ere s live streaming the boxing. It was an amazing event, there was a great atmosphere and I can tell you when Lisa was crowned champion of the world people were just ecstatic. It was a brilliant and I'm sure over the weekend there will be some events to mark, that, It is going to be a great evening when we do that. We are all delighted for Lisa, we are so proud of her and her family."
