A well-known Athlone butcher shop is set to close its doors this Christmas after 75 years in operation. Horan's Pork Shop on Church Street said the shop is no longer viable due to changes in trade and in Athlone as a town.
They say they plan to keep the business going until Christmas before shutting permanently by the end of the year. The shop has been trading from the same location since 1949 and the owners thanked their customers and local businesses for their support.
