A well-known former Roscommon player has passed away suddenly.
John McDermott was part of the famous Roscommon senior team that reached the All-Ireland final in 1980.
His sudden but peaceful death occurred on Thursday, December 28th at his home.
The Roscommon native was the chairperson of the Roscommon Hospital Action Committee, running as candidate in 2011 in the Roscommon South Leitrim constituency and again in 2014.
He was also the developer of the EmCall App, which provides medical intervention and support to cardiac arrest victims.
Tributes are currently being paid to the well-known player and campaigner by former teammates and colleagues.
His funeral will take place on Monday at 11 o clock, followed by burial in St. Coman's Cemetery.
