A west Roscommon nursing home has been praised for the overall standard of keeping its premises clean and safe for residents.
Hiqa inspectors found infection control procedures at Oakwood nursing home in Ballaghaderreen were substantially complaint with regulations.
A total of 37 residents were on site when this unannounced inspection took place last November.
Residents told inspectors they were "very happy and satisfied with the care, food and service provided".
Inspectors noted supplies of PPE as well as surgical masks and gloves being used appropriately during their visit.
Some issues were raised by inspectors that required addressing by management including worn surfaces and finishes and the use of 'top up bottles' for communal items such as shampoos and soap.
The laundry was also found to be used as the linen store, raising concerns over possible cross-contamination and there was only one clinical hand wash sink available in the centre within the nurse's office.
Responding to the report, Oakwood Nursing Home in Ballaghaderreen told Shannonside FM that is happy to say that all HIQA recommendations from its inspection last November are being implemented
They also confirmed that ongoing refurbishment works continue and will be due to be completed later this year.
The centre had been subject to a critical HIQA report last year.
