A woman in her 60s has been killed in a suspected hit-and-run in North Dublin. It happened on the Phibsborough Road last night.
The woman who was a pedestrian was killed by a car which Gardaí say failed to remain at the scene.
It happened last night at around ten past nine near Cross Guns Bridge in Phibsboro - close to the Bald Eagle pub.
She was pronounced dead a short time later, and her body has since been removed from the scene.
It's understood the car involved had come to the attention of gardai shortly before the crash and a referral has been made to the garda watchdog, GSOC.
An incident room has been set up at Mountjoy Garda Station. The scene remains preserved this morning for a technical examination.
The section road from Cross Guns Bridge to the junction of Phibsborough Road near the shopping Centre will remain closed until mid-afternoon, and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
