A woman arrested in connection with a road traffic collision in Co. Limerick last week, which seriously injured a Garda Inspector who is originally from County Roscommon, has been released without charge.
Inspector Niall Flood, who is from the Kilmore area, but now working in Limerick, suffered a significant leg injury after he was struck by a car while out cycling on the R522 between Dromcollogher and Feohanagh last Thursday.
The woman who is aged in her 20's was detained as part of the Garda investigation into the crash.
Inspector Flood, who is in his 50s, was airlifted from the scene and is still being treated for serious injuries at Cork University Hospital.
A special mass took place for him over the weekend as dozens of messages of support for his friends and family were paid to him from the Shannonside region and in the Mid-West.
Gardai are also still appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage from the area to come forward.
