Residents of Jamestown village in Leitrim can look forward to a more reliable water supply with work due to begin on the replacement of some of the local watermains.
Irish Water says that 1.3 kilometres of pipeline which caused frequent bursts and leakages is being replaced with new high density plastic pipes.
The mains that are being replaced begin at the N4 junction with local road L3656 , and continue on the local road through Jamestown village, ending at the meat factory.
The works will begin next Monday and are due to be finished by the end of December.
