Work is to begin next month on a new "Housing for All" development in Athlone.
Contracts were signed today between Westmeath County Council and OCC Construction to build the 24 home unit at Greally Park in the town.
The development will involve a mix of one and two bed houses and apartments.
All of the 24 units are being designed with air-to-water heating, and photo voltaic panels.
The housing development is being named after Athlone native and author Hanna Greally who wrote about her experience of being incarcerated at St Loman's psychiatric hospital in Mullingar.
