Work is ongoing in Clondra near Longford town this week to investigate the cause of a breach in the local canal.
Water levels at Richmond Harbour dropped sharply at the weekend and left many boats moored there sitting on the bottom of the harbour at one stage.
Waterways Ireland says it immediately deployed engineers at the weekend and levels were restored at the harbour.
The navigational authority says the necessary measures are being taken to resolve the issue and to find out the cause of the leak.
Des McPartland who ran The Richmond Inn for several years, and who still lives beside the harbour says he doesn't believe any boats were damaged in the incident.
While access to the harbour is affected during the repair works he says he doesn't think anyone is actually trapped.
