Works have officially commenced on an interim flood relief scheme at Lough Funshinagh in Roscommon. Minister for the OPW Kevin 'Boxer' Moran confirmed enabling infrastructure was currently being installed at the former turlough. It's expected these enabling works will be completed within the next four weeks with pumping equipment due on site this week.
Roscommon County Council expects to have the scheme completed and commissioned by the end of March. A planning application for a permanent solution is due to be submitted to An Bord Pleanála by the end of the year. Minister Moran says he expects works to be completed without any issues:
