One of the first regeneration projects of scale in Longford town is expected to be completed this week.
The redevelopment of the Market Square under the Longford Connects programme included the installation of new footpaths, lighting and signage, as well as street furniture and landscaping.
While the project faced several delays Councillor Gerry Warnock is welcoming news of its near completion.
He believes it allows for a positive visual impact as people arrive in the town centre.
The Independent representative says finishing touches as well as street furniture will be added this week.
'It's turning out absolutely fantastic. The markings are down and it is relatively finished down at Grafton court and the Tesco car park.
They are currently working on the markings and signage up on the market square.
I believe the suit furniture and the finishing touches are due to begin this week.
They is adequate space there to have many events such as the farmers markets so it is something that will functional as well as pleasing on the eye.'
