Unforeseen technical issues have delayed pavement works at the Aghnaskea bridge near Killashee
Longford County Council issued a notice in late July that a bridge pavement scheme was to take place at the popular access point for the Royal canal on the N63.
However, six weeks later, no works have started and signage to alert motorists of the impending works have now been relocated promoting speculation that the project may have been shelved.
The local authority has now confirmed that "the commencement of the proposed works at Aghnaskea, Killashee have been delayed so that unforeseen technical issues can be addressed."
The Council has confirmed that they are working closely with the consultant and contractor to resolve these issues and will advise when a new commencement date has been agreed.
