Works to bring a full fibre broadband network to Ballinasloe will commence in Spring 2023.
The announcement was made during the week by SIRO, a joint venture by Vodafone Ireland and the ESB.
Over 2,400 premises are set to benefit from the plan which is built on the ESB electricity infrastructure.
Some of the first areas in Ballinasloe that will be able to avail of the broadband will be Townparks, Portnick, Poolboy, Dunlo, Kilgarve, Church Street, Bóthar Sáirséal, Meadowbrook, Beechlawn and Esker Hills.
The expansion marks a 5 million euro investment between Ballinalsoe and Loughrea which will also see the rollout commence shortly.
