A local councillor is hitting back at the criticism over disruption caused by road works in Longford town.
Battery Road will be shut from 7pm to 6am from today until Wednesday, from St Alban's to Lisbrack Road.
Traffic will be diverted onto the N4 and the N63, but pedestrian access will be allowed.
It emerged last week that traffic disruption on Battery Road could continue until the end of the year, due to the resurfacing works.
Fine Gael councillor Peggy Nolan is defending the disruption.
