An Athlone native has been chosen as a National Youth Council of Ireland Local Champion.
The NYCI launched the Local Champions initiative to promote young people's participation in society at both a local and national level.
Eighteen-year-old Londiwe Ndlovu will take the role for the Longford-Westmeath constituency.
According to the local student, she's looks forward to engage with representatives including Minister Peter Burke and TDs Sorca Clarke, Joe Flaherty and Robert Troy among others.
The National Youth Council of Ireland is calling for an additional investment of €9.4 million in youth work in the 2024 Budget in order to finance the increasing costs of delivering local services, and to ensure equal access to youth work for all young people across the nation.
