The 14 year old was defeated by world number 23 Robert Milkins, 45-42 in the first round of the snooker shootout held in Leicester.

Young Longford Snooker star Joe Shannon was narrowly defeated on the World Snooker Tour earlier today. The 14 year old was defeated by world number 23 Robert Milkins, 45-42 in the first round of the snooker shootout held in Leicester.

He also became Ireland's youngest player to compete in a snooker tour event. Speaking to Lets Talk today, Joe's father Damien said it was great to see him get rewarded for his hard work:
