Young man killed in Longford road traffic incident named locally

A man who was killed after being struck by a bus in Longford has been named locally.

19 year old Martin McDonnell, a native of Longford Town, died after he was involved in a collision with the Cavan to Athlone service just after 6pm yesterday.

His body was removed to Mullingar Regional Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place.

Convent Road and New Street remain closed until at least midday today to facilitate a technical examination.
