A 67-year-old man accused of falsely imprisoning and causing serious harm to Kevin Lunney told gardaí he wouldn’t know him if he met him.
Luke O'Reilly of Mullahoran Lower, Kilcogy, Co Cavan, is one of four men who deny any involvement in the alleged abduction of the Quinn Industrial Holdings executive.
In his evidence yesterday, Kevin Lunney told the non-jury court that he was abducted from outside his home in Co Fermanagh on September 17th 2019.
He gave evidence of being brought to a horse box, maybe a 45min drive way, where he said he was doused in bleach and beaten up, while repeatedly being told by his captors that he was to step down from his role at Quinn Industrial Holdings.
A few days later, when Luke O’Reilly returned to his home in Cavan to find gardaí searching his property, the court heard he told them he knew why they were there.
According to Sergeant Michael Carney, the first thing he said, without being prompted, was: 'You’re here because I bought that bottle of bleach.'
Sergeant Carney told the judges he went on to say he had 'nothing to hide' and only knew about what happened to Mr Lunney from what he saw on the news.
He said Mr O’Reilly told him he wouldn’t know the man if he met him.
