A new class to accommodate six pupils with autism at Athlone Community College isn't likely to begin until early next year.
Michelle Lynch who was hoping her son Gareth would be able to attend the school from this week says she was told last week that they wouldn't be able to accommodate the children until next year.
The school places for the six children were announced in July after local parents protested they had nowhere local for their children to be able to attend secondary school.
The Athlone mother says she'd been delighted to get an invite to attend the school last week and she was disappointed to hear of further delays.
