Ballinasloe man Aiden Sheridan will swim the length of the River Shannon this summer in memory of his brother, Mark, who died of cancer in 2017.
Aiden's sister, Jennifer, was aslo diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, from which she has since made a full recovery,
Aiden ran 52 marathons in 52 weeks after his sisters diagnosis, and said his brother Mark had jokingly asked him to do something similar for him in the short days between his dagnosis and death.
He says he hopes to raise €50,000 for the Irish Cancer Society and for East Galway and Midlands Cancer Support.
Aiden hopes to do the swim starting on July 15th, and expects it to take 14 days, depending on weather conditions.
He's been speaking to Anne Norris on the Let's Talk show on Shannonside FM this week.
