The 'No to Derryadd Windfarm Group' says it will take its time before deciding whether to apply for a judicial review of the decision to grant permission to a wind farm in south Longford.

The group received notification today that An Bord Pleanala has granted Bord na Mona permission to erect 24 wind turbines on its box complex in Derryadd.

It's understood that while the Bord took all environmental opposition of the plans into account, its decision was acting in the interests of the Climate Action Plan 2019 of the and the government's 2040 National Planning Framework which seeks for a more equal distribution of renewable energy projects.

There are now eight weeks for an application to have the decision reviewed by the courts.

Niall Dennigan from the No to Derryadd Windfarm group says that process involves looking at whether the correct procedures were followed.
