Locals in south Roscommon who have suffered as a result of flooding near Lough Funhaingh for the last number of years are expressing their relief that their pleas for help will finally be answered.
The OPW and Roscommon County Council are to begin work immediately to start pipeline water away from homes and lands in the area which has been described as being at a crisis point for the last number of years.
People have already left the area, while earlier this year it as agreed that a major engineered solution would be required to prevent repeated flood waters in the area of special conservation.
