An Afghan man who is now living in Ballaghadereen is thanking Ireland for giving him refuge from the Taliban.
Iqbal Nasari and his family were forced to flee Kabul in late August because of their brothers work with UK special forces.
An Irish friend of the family sought assistance from Alliance Party MP Stephen Farry who in turn worked with the Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney to bring the Nasaris to Roscommon.
They are currently living at the E-Rock centre in Ballaghadereen with some family members attending the local school.
While Iqbal says the centre provides a number of services, he now hopes to get a job and find a permanent home.
He has been speaking to Tommy Stenson.
