A convent in Boyle is closing down after over two decades and the three remaining nuns are moving out.

The Sisters of Mercy have run the Galilee Spirituality Centre since 2001, but Sisters Mae, Olive and Margaret  are moving to Roscommon town and Athlone in September.

The six-bedroom Boyle property, which overlooks Lough Key and Lough Arrow, is now on sale.

Eoghan Murphy visited the convent and spoke to two of the nuns, Olive and Margaret.

He first spoke to Sister Olive, who has been in the convent since it opened 23 years ago.
