People in Roscommon and Leitrim who bought UK imported cars over the last decade are being advised to check their vehicles history.
It's following a survey carried out by an Irish company which found that tens of thousands of cars, salvaged and written off in the UK, have been imported into Ireland.
The company found more than 39,000 affected vehicles, by cross-referencing the vehicle identification numbers (VIN) of 1.9m Irish vehicles with its UK salvage database.
Motorcheck says that they found up to €2.3 million euro worth of these so-called 'zombie' vehicles registered in Leitrim, with €4.1 million euro of them in Roscommon.
Nothing was registered with a Longford number plate.
