Longford-Westmeath TD Robert Troy was selected to represent Fianna Fáil in the next general election at a Westmeath selection convention in Mullingar on Monday night.
A Longford convention will be held in the coming weeks, when another sitting TD, Joe Flaherty, will be chosen.
The party will run a total of two candidates in the five-seat constituency.

Eoghan Murphy was at the convention in the Bloomfield House Hotel and spoke to Troy.
