LISTEN: Leitrim councillor warns fracking set to come to Ireland

A Leitrim councillor is raising concerns about the possible introduction of fracking into Ireland.

Independent Councillor Eddie Mitchell says the government has altered its policy on the importation of fracked gas.

At Monday's council meeting, he called on the local authority to write to Energy Minister Eamon Ryan to express its disappointment over the issue.

Councillor Mitchell says the government plans to build a Strategic Gas Reserve in Ireland, in the form of a fracked gas import terminal.

Our reporter Eoghan Murphy spoke to him, and first asked about the background to the fracking controversy in Leitrim.
