There is a severe lack of diversity in councils throughout the country – mainly made up of white men over the age of 50.
That’s according to the youngest ever person to contest the local elections in Leitrim, Adam O Ceallaigh, who is running the Ballinamore Local Electoral Area next month.
Eoghan Murphy met the 22-year-old in his hometown of Drumshanbo, and he first told him why he wants to get into politics at such a young age.
