A Longford councillor fears further violence after a shooting in Longford town last night.
Shots were fired at a house in the Springlawn area shortly before 8 o'clock.
A man in his 70s was seriously injured after being shot in the arm and he is being treated in Mullingar Hospital.

Fianna Fáil councillor Seamus Butler, the cathaoirleach of Longford Municipal District, says it was a very serious incident.
