Martin Kenny has set his sights on becoming a cabinet minister after the general election.
He was confirmed as a candidate in Sligo-Leitrim at a selection convention in the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town on Thursday evening, along with former MEP Chris McManus.
Kenny was selected unopposed as the Leitrim candidate, while McManus beat Cllr Thomas Healy in a vote for the Sligo nomination.

Kenny told our reporter Eoghan Murphy he was delighted to get over the line.
McManus lost in seat in the European elections in June and he told Eoghan about life for him since then.
