The OPW Minister says the controversial flood-relief pipe at Lough Funshinagh in south Roscommon can be finished in the “relatively short-term”.
Kieran O’Donnell says this can end the flooding crisis, which led to homes being evacuated recently.
Roscommon County Council started laying this pipe in 2021, but it was halted after a successful legal action by Friends of the Irish Environment.
O’Donnell says the Attorney General is currently looking into how the pipe can be finished.
The Minister of State told Eoghan Murphy he is committed to resolving the issue, after visiting the area last Friday.
