Retired Leitrim teacher John King was one of many Leaving Cert students anxiously awaiting their results in recent weeks.
John who is 72 taught maths and physicis at Drumshanbo Vocational School over many years and acknowledges that languages would never have been his strng point.
He was impelled to try to learn German when his daughter settled in Germany in recent years and he had an extra and very happy reason to imrove his German language skills when his grandson was born over a year ago.
John spoke on the Let's Talk show this week about his efforts and how he felt it's always a good thing for people to keep learning even after they have stopped their working lives.
