An urgent appeal has been made to businesses in Longford to check if they have any unused or available PPE equipment which could be made available for non-hospital health workers.
Concerns have grown in the last number of days that number of community nurses and health care staff are visiting homes in the Shannonside Northern Sound region without full PPE equipment.
Longford Councillor Peggy Nolan collected some masks and gloves as well as other useful equipment from Templemichael College in Longford town on Saturday in order to help local community HSE staff carry out their normal jobs.
She is appealing to any firms currently shut, such as hairdressers and hardware stores, to do a double-check to ensure they don't have any spare sets of vital protective equipment :
