A new group to support austic people and their families in Longford will be officially launched this evening.
The Longford Autism Friendly Committee are hosting the launch of AS I AM Longford tonight at 7 o'clock at the Longford Arms Hotel.
The new local support service is a local branch of the well known national autism charity AS I AM and will work with local communities, businesses and families.
The national charity provides evidence-based advice, resources, and guidance to the community and aims to make Irish society a more inclusive and accepting place.
Sara is a local mother of an Austic child and the organiser of the goup.
She says she's hopeful the group will help local families:
AS I AM CEO Adam Harris will attend the launch tonight and has urged other communities across the region to follow Longford's example.
