Longford students are getting a head start when it comes to studying science in primary school thanks to an innovative council initiative.
The Microsoft Dreamspace event will see hundreds of students from 12 primary schools across the county converge on Edgeworthstown next week for the coding based competition.
Students have been working with their teachers over the last number of weeks to prepare projects for judging, with a range of prizes on offer for participants.
At the May meeting of Longford County Council, representatives described the project as giving local students a three year head start in being introduced to STEAM subjects ahead of their addition to the curriculum in 2026.
