A special fundraising initiative is taking place in Longford this Christmas spearheaded by local garda members.
Operation Blue Santa began originally in the US where police worked to make sure that people didn't go without at Christmas time.

The idea inspired Community Garda Emma Kiernan to try fundraising for local charities and community groups who work to help people who are less fortunate.

A Garda Band concert in St Mel's Cathedral raised over €6,000 already this year and the proceeds of a special book and story about Operation Santa will go towards four local charities including Cian's Kennels and Longford Acorn Project.
Author Jessica Thompson and illustrator Nicole Forster joined Anne Norris on the Let's Talk show show this week.
