A planning application for a permanent solution to the flooding crisis in south Roscommon will be lodged in around six months' time.
On a visit to Roscommon yesterday, OPW Minister Kieran O'Donnell also confirmed a temporary measure should go to planning next month.
This involves a pump taking water out of Lough Funshinagh through Curraghboy.
Rahara residents are increasingly concerned about the turlough flooding their homes this winter.
Minister O'Donnell says a long-term plan is also progressing well.
He and MEP Ciaran Mullooly spoke about the issue on today's Let's Talk, while Mullooly also spoke about the abuse he has been receiving on social media recently.
