The fortunes of Ireland’s wintering waterbird species have been published for 97 lakes, rivers and coastal estuaries across Ireland.
Fifteen waterbird species are stable or increasing, but twenty are declining, including six species that have decreased by over 50% since the mid-1990’s.
The scientific officer with Birdwatch Ireland is Brian Burke, who is also a Roscommon town native.
