A new survey shows that almost 70% of people in Roscommon use pesticides to control weeds and other undesirable plants in their gardens.
The survey, conducted among schoolchildren in the county, hopes to raise awareness of the negative impact pesticides can have on the environment and water sources.
The survey, devised by the Federation of Group Water Schemes, also revealed that over 40% of people were hoping to reduce pesticide usage and one in three hoping to only use natural methods to maintain their gardens and lawns.
